Queensmead Primary Academy

Academy Admissions

Queensmead Primary Academy provides for the needs of children within the 3 to 11 age range who live in Braunstone and the surrounding area.

Pupils will be admitted at the age of 3+ without reference to ability or aptitude using the criteria set out in the Admissions policy. Admission to our Academy is not dependent on any ‘voluntary’ contribution.

The Academy participates in the Local Authority co-ordinated scheme for entry into Reception year and all deadlines within that should be adhered to by applicants.

  • For admission to our Nursery provision, parents should contact the main office on 0116 285 8518 to apply for a place.

For admission in September 2024, these forms should be returned by 15 January 2024 for primary reception. Any applications after this date will be dealt with as late applications.

Please visit: www.leicestercity.gov.uk/admissions

Queensmead Primary Academy will co-ordinate admissions for all in-year applications and for applications for year groups other than the normal point of entry (Reception year) - please contact Mrs Grimes, Academy Administrator, in the front office or on 0116 285 8518.

Appeals

There is a right of appeal to an independent Appeals Panel for unsuccessful applicants relating to admissions at age 5 (statutory school age) or above.  Appeals should be made, in writing, to the Academy within twenty (20) school days of the date of refusal.

Please be aware that the regulations under Section I of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 limit the size of an infant class (a class in which the majority of children will reach the age of 5, 6 or 7 during the school year) to 30 pupils per class teacher.  Admissions over this limit are only permitted in very limited circumstances.

Please find below the current Admissions Policy.
