'There are more opportunities in Year 5, like being part of the Creativity Council.'
Our Year 5 pupils start the year on a journey through the stages of human growth, from infancy to adulthood, studying physical, emotional, and social changes. During Black History Month, pupils study the Windrush generation’s contributions, challenges, and cultural impact. Later in the Autumn Term, they investigate the solar system, including the Earth’s relationship with the Sun and Moon, sparking a passion for astronomy and environmental awareness. In the Spring Term, pupils travel back to the age of Vikings and Anglo-Saxons into the lives of raiders and traders, their adventures, cultures, and impact on Britain. Inspired by Shakespeare and the power of the theatre, pupils continue this term by exploring literature, history and the arts. During the Summer Term, pupils discover the rich history, geography, and cultures of the Middle East, before embarking on a geographical journey comparing coastal features of the UK to those in North America, including the opportunity to visit Mablethorpe on the Lincolnshire coast. Year 5 is an exciting adventure of discovery that ignites curiosity, fosters creativity and deepens understanding of the world.
