Queensmead Primary Academy

Academy Uniform

We pride ourselves on the smart presentation of our children at Queensmead.

We believe that wearing uniform helps our pupils to have a sense of pride and belonging in our academy. It also allows the children to feel a sense of community, whilst supporting and promoting the importance of practicality and safety. Not only does it enable pupils to feel part of the Queensmead family, it also prepares our pupils for secondary school and can help to prevent bullying. We are exceptionally proud of our academy and want our children to feel the same sense of pride when heading to school in the morning, ready for a day of learning.

It is our policy that all children wear the full Academy uniform when attending Queensmead Primary Academy (including educational day visits), or when attending and participating in an academy organised event outside of normal school hours (with the exception of residential educational visits).

Wearing the Queensmead Primary Academy uniform is compulsory and not an option. Children attend the Academy in their full uniform everyday – without exception.

We provide a complete list of the items needed for the academy uniform in the prospectus pack, here on the website and there is also a list available from the main office.

In line with the draft statutory guidance (the government intends to make this a legal requirement from September 2026 through the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill), it is not compulsory to have branded items as part of our uniform.

Branded uniform items can be purchased from Uniform Direct which is based on Humberstone Gate in the City Centre or online from their website. Uniform Direct have provided a guide to buying uniform and a price list which can be found at the bottom of the page. Non-branded items can be purchased from a range of supermarkets and other local/ national suppliers.

Good for the environment and finances!

In order to support our families and community, we are always grateful for donations of 'pre-loved' uniform which your child may have grown out of - we frequently have a clothes rail in the playground both before and after school where many items of pre-loved uniform are available to be collected free of charge.  We also run 'Free Uniform Pop-up'  sessions where surplus items are all given away with no charge.

Full expectations are set out in the Uniform Policy .
