Food for Life Bronze award!

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Food for Life Bronze Award for our healthy and climate-friendly food culture. The award recognises our hard work in ensuring that we serve healthy, ethically sourced and environmentally friendly meals. At Queensmead, we are proud of the food that we serve. We are currently working towards a 'Food for Life' Silver award for our academy.

Healthy Packed Lunch

Healthy packed lunches are essential for supporting children's growth, concentration, and wellbeing throughout the school day. Making lunches with fresh fruit and veg, lean proteins like tuna or chicken, wholemeal bread or pasta, and dairy such as cheese or yogurt ensures children receive key nutrients including vitamins, fibre, and steady energy to tackle lessons and playtimes.

We try to encourage healthier packed lunch boxes in the academy. To support article 24, “I have the right to be as healthy as possible”, our Rights Respecting School Council want to help with this. They had special training with a dietitian and then shared what they had learnt with the other children.

Tasty School Dinners!

At our school, we take pride in serving delicious, nutritious school dinners that follow the latest UK government School Food Standards, ensuring every child enjoys balanced, freshly prepared meals designed to fuel their learning, growth, and fun-filled days.

With universal free school meals in our key stage 1 classes and eligibility checks for older pupils, we make nutritious eating accessible to all, encouraging social bonding at communal tables and introducing exciting flavours like mild veggie kormas or classic cottage pie made with locally sourced ingredients where possible. If you would like to know more about our school dinners, please contact the office.
