Queensmead Primary Academy

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Queensmead Primary Academy.

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Queensmead Primary Academy, part of the Greenwood Academies Trust. Thank you for showing an interest in our exciting Academy community. We are a busy but friendly and welcoming place, with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the life of the Academy, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and pupils.

"Relationships between adults and pupils are caring and respectful. Pupils are confident and behave well." Ofsted -  July 2018

Queensmead Primary Academy opened its doors in November 2012 as the first primary academy in Leicester City sponsored by the Greenwood Academies Trust (formerly known as the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust) - which was formed in 2009. Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT) currently has 37 open academies educating over 18,000 pupils across seven local authority areas including Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire, Leicester City, West Northamptonshire, North Northamptonshire, Peterborough, and Lincolnshire.

We are able to share good practice as well as develop effective collaborative working both within our region and across the Trust.

"Pupils are proud of their school." Ofsted - July 2018

The Academy serves a long-standing local community in the Braunstone area of Leicester. We operate in an open culture with ambitious staff, very well supported by the Trust who are committed to accelerating our progress for the benefit of our pupils and for the future of Queensmead. We've come a long way and continue to grow year by year and day by day.

"Pupils are provided with opportunities and experiences which encourage them to think about such issues as online safety, wider world issues affecting the environment and future career prospects" Ofsted - July 2018

The Academy is exceptionally well resourced and all our classrooms have an interactive whiteboard, overhead projectors, modern resources and clean and tidy spaces, all teachers are equipped with a laptop. There's a drama and performance studio, a soundproof music room and fully stocked Library and the extended services within the Academy are some of the best within the Trust. Our spacious building and extensive grounds offer some of the best facilities children and parents could wish for; we strive to continually improve and update these spaces to meet the changing needs of our learners.

"Academy leaders are ambitious for the school. Their decisive actions have led to significant improvements in the quality of teaching and learning" Ofsted - July 2018

We aim to continue our recent improvements as an Academy and are committed to further improving quality and standards in a swift yet sustainable manner. July 2022 saw us achieve our best ever results across the board, with Reading, Writing, Maths and combined for KS2 SATs being well above both national and local percentages!

We are very proud that the hard work of pupils and staff has had such an impact for our learners both now and into the future. We will continue to strive for high attainment and progress for all our pupils.

"The school's curriculum is well-designed to inspire pupils to learn and to broaden their knowledge and skills" Ofsted - July 2018
