Route to Resilience
What is Route to Resilience?
The Route to Resilience initiative enables us to understand and develop character traits that make us unique. It is an evidence-based, practical approach to supporting pupils’ emotional well-being by building resilience and character. We believe understanding and developing our character strengths will support academic success and provide resilience in life and learning through transferable skills. Developing and using our ‘character muscles’ will allow us to be the best version of ourselves. Creating a culture, at home and school, where pupils are given every opportunity to rehearse and strengthen their sense of self is at the heart of Route to Resilience.
Preparing pupils for the future
Equipping young people with good character muscles gives them the ability to adapt and interact with the world and others, take on new challenges and have confidence in their abilities.
How we are building pupils’ resilience?
Our character vocabulary will be introduced to pupils through our creative curriculum and a range of different activities. Character 'muscles' will be displayed and referred to explicitly during lessons, activities and assemblies to enable pupils to understand and experience each different character trait.
